Toyota has reportedly agreed to bring Android Auto to its vehicles

Over the last several years, Android Auto has made it into an increasing number of vehicles from various manufacturers. Despite its growing popularity, Toyota has refused to let Google’s infotainment software into its automobiles. But according to Bloomberg, Toyota has come to an agreement with Google, and this might soon change.

When Android Auto first hit the market, concerns were raised about the amount of vehicle and personal information Google required to make the software work. It was for this reason that Toyota claimed not to want any third party software installed onto its infotainment systems.

But back in January of this year, Toyota agreed to allow Apple’s CarPlay into the Avalon, Corolla Hatchback, and RAV4 with more to come in the future. Since that point, a company representative has stated that there has been demand for Android Auto, but wouldn’t comment on if Toyota would ever choose to include the platform.

Unfortunately, Bloomberg was not able to identify which of Toyota’s vehicles would be first to run Android Auto or if the platform would also be making its way to the company’s luxury brand, Lexus. An official announcement about the agreement with Google could be made as soon as October.
