Jakarta (ANTARA) - Grup musik hip hop dari Amerika Serikat Fugees mengaransemen ulang lagu "Killing Me Softly with His Song" yang memenangi aneka penghargaan.

Lagu ini berhasil meraih "Record of the Year", "Song of The Year", hingga "Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female" dalam Grammy Awards ke-16 tahun 1973 ketika dibawakan oleh penyanyi blues Roberta Flack.

Fugees memainkan hip-hop di mana sejumlah penggalan liriknya memanggil nama trio anggota grup itu yaitu Wyclef Jean, Lauryn "L-Boogie" Hill, dan Prakazrel "Prasrel" Michel.

Lagu "Killing Me Softly with His Song" awalnya diciptakan oleh penulis lagu AS Norman Gimbel dan komposer musik AS Charles Fox untuk penyanyi blues Lori Lieberman pada 1971 dan dirilis melalui Capitol Records dalam album bertajuk "Lori Lieberman" pada Juli 1972.

Lagu tersebut mengisahkan seseorang yang tersentuh oleh lagu yang dinyanyikan seorang pria.
