"We can assure you their performance will be good," Kalla said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice president-elect Jusuf Kalla (JK), on Thursday, gave an assurance on the integrity of persons to be chosen as ministers in the next cabinet.

"We can assure you their performance will be good," he said when attending the launch of a book on photography about Indonesia Red Cross (PMI) titled "Surpassing Limits: Records of Humanity Journeys."

Jusuf Kalla, who is the PMI chairman, said that only the best people would be chosen to join his government later and promised he would replace those who failed to retain their integrity.

President-elect Joko Widodo announced on Monday that his future cabinet would consist of 34 ministries and 18 of them would be held by pure professionals while the other 16 would be held by professionals from political parties.

The number of his ministers who come from political parties would be smaller than the number in the current cabinet which is 20.

Many people in political parties were also professionals and so those who would be nominated by parties would also be professionals, he said.

Professionals from political parties and pure professionals were not different except that "pure professionals have no political support while those from political parties have", he said.

Pure professionals would be assigned to ministries such as finance ministry, state enterprises ministry, energy and mineral resource ministry and agriculture ministry, he said.

Joko Widodo dropped the posts of deputy ministers except one for the ministry of foreign affairs.

He has not announced the names of the ministers in his future cabinet yet.(*)
