Jakarta (ANTARA Newsa) - Two Indonesian police officers arrested in Kuching had no order to cross the border to Sarawak , Malaysia, from West Kalimantan, the State Police headquarters said.

Adj. Sr. Comr. Idha Endri Prastiono and chief brig. MH Harahap were arrested by the Malaysian Royal Police (PDRM) on alleged drug trafficking.

"What is certain is that the two West Kalimantan police officers arrested in Kuching had no order to go to the Malaysian city. They had gone there without the knowledge of their superiors," chief spokesman of the State Police headquarter Insp. Gen. Ronny F Sompie said here on Tuesday.

Ronny said from initial information received by the State Police, no drug was found when the two were nabbed in Kuching.

"They carried no drug when they were arrested, but PDRM investigators already had enough initial evidence to arrest them in line with the law in Malaysia," he said.

The Malaysian police are still investigating the case and the process of investigation could last for seven times 24 hours, he said.

The Malaysian police are given seven times 24 hours to determine whether the charges against criminal suspects are valid or not, he said.

Drug offense is an extraordinary crime in Malaysia, therefore, investigations of the case is handled by PDRM in its head quarters in Kuala Lumpur.

Ronny said the West Kalimantan deputy police chief and regional police chief detective are still in Kuching for coordination and to see what they could do to deal with the case.

"Coordination is also made with the Indonesian Consulate General in Kuching, with the help of the Indonesian embassy in Malaysia. We also have police attache there to help any Indonesian needing assistance in that country," he said.

He said for the time being only coordination could be made pending the result of investigations by PDRM of the case involving the West Kalimantan police officers.

He said coordination by the Indonesian Police and their Malaysian counterparts through a team from West Kalimantan police sent to that country is to see how far the two officers were involved in alleged drug traffic.

Idha Endri was former chief of a sub-directorate at the Drug Detective Directorate and MH Harahap is a member of the Entikong district police . ***1***
