President Yudhoyono to inaugurate National Sports Week in Riau

Pekanbaru (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to inaugurate the National Sports Week (PON) XVIII in Riau Province on September 11, after his return from Russia, an official said on Thursday .

"The president and his entourage are scheduled to arrive in Pekanbaru on September 11."
"The president, along with seven ministers will fly directly to Pekanbaru after completing his official tour of Russia," Emrizal Pakis, the event`s chairman said.
He added that the president`s attendance at the opening ceremony of the games was confirmed by the governor of Riau`s protocols, which are based on the results of an inter-sector coordination meeting held by the committee in Pekanbaru earlier.
The president is expected to land at the Sultan Sharif Kasim II airport in Pekanbaru on September 11, after having attended numerous meetings with heads of state from all over the world in Russia.
While in Pekanbaru, the president along with some officials will stay at the Riau governor`s official residence in Jalan Diponegoro, while his ministers will stay in Aryaduta, which is not located far from the residence of the Riau governor.
"The president and his entourage are scheduled to arrive in Pekanbaru on September 11, and so far there has been no change in the date of the sports week opening," Pakis said.
The committee organizing the event has booked as many as 105 rooms in Aryaduta to accommodate various guests and the party president, who will attend the opening ceremony of the sporting event.
Besides arranging for accommodation in Aryaduta, the committee also booked rooms in the Premiere Hotel and Hotel Labersa for governors and heads of other provinces as well as the ambassadors of friendly countries.
The National Sport Week XVIII in Riau, which will begin on September 9 and conclude on September 22, will be spread across 10 districts in the Riau province.
