Manado, N.Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - North Sulawesi province would have a biodiversity garden in an effort to restore the role of plantations and environment in the region, North Sulawesi provincial government`s spokesman Alex Wowor said here Monday.

The concept of the biodiversity garden was raised at a meeting attended by related authorities here, Alex Wowor said.

"The provincial government plans to build an experiment garden to support the biodiversity garden by showcasing a number of unique seeds and plants," Alex noted.

The garden construction plan was based on the minister of agriculture`s letter number 07/PD.320/M/1/2011 dated on January 3, 2011, which recommended that Manado city be the garden site.

According to Alex, North Sulawesi governor provided financial support and a piece of land for the Paniki experiment garden project.

Thirty hectares of land in North Sulawesi had been prepared for the garden construction project, he said.
